The 3 Main Places to Market Your Business Online

1. Social media:

Social media is a discovery platform that involves creating and sharing content on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and others. Research has revealed that 58 per cent of consumers visit a brand’s social pages before visiting their website.

Social media marketing helps businesses build relationships with customers by providing them with free content that is relevant to their interests. People go there to see what friends and family are up to and discover new things they like – not necessarily be sold to. For long term success you want to focus on building a community first with educational or helpful content.

2. Google:

Google has been around for more than 20 years now, but its impact on our lives continues to grow. In fact, it’s one of the most powerful tools we have today. It’s not just about searching for information anymore. We also use it to connect with people, share ideas, and even buy things online. People go here to search for exactly what they need, but there are 2 types of searches.

Searches with intent to buy and searches with intent to research. If they search for a brand or product name or “plumbers near me” for example, they already know what they want. If they search for “how to” then they are not yet ready to buy in most cases. Whether you show up in Google search ads or organically via SEO, you will need to have 2 types of pages on your website for success from Google – sales pages or articles or education

3. Your Website

If you create a website that answers your ideal customer’s questions and provides them with the solutions to their problems, you will begin to attract attention. If people come directly to your site by either Googling your business name or typing in your domain, then they might have heard about you and know what they want. Or just want to learn more about you.

If people come into your site from a search term unrelated to your business, or a link somewhere else, then they might land on a certain page that sells them or gives more info. This is why every page on your site needs pathways for someone to get help depending on the step that is right for them to take next.

This list doesn’t cover all of the potential marketing platforms you can try online, but it does cover the 3 main places to market your business. There are many platforms with different marketing strategies that may not work for everyone, but can work for you. As we say in marketing “Test everything”!
