How to achieve your business goals

January 30, 2021

Whenever you make big plans for your business, whether they are yearly or quarterly goals, do you feel like you just don't have the time to do them?

Here's a favourite quick tip to make sure what you plan actually gets done!

We recommend breaking down your goals into smaller steps, and developing a strategy to ensure you reach your desired result. It's a simple 2-step process to make that grand plan seem much less overwhelming.

How do I achieve my business goals?

Step 1: Focus on one main thing that you want to accomplish each month.

Let's say you want to launch a new podcast.

In this case, the first month might be all about putting the right systems in place - researching and testing these, etc.

Then month two would be your launch phase. And in month three, you might focus on how you are going to monetise your podcast.

When you break it into monthly chunks, you don't need to start thinking about what's next. Just focus on the steps needed to reach that initial monthly milestone.

Step 2: Set aside 10 minutes every single day to work on your focus for the month.

Think about the time of day this will work best for you.

Let's stay with the example of launching a podcast. For instance, if the first month is all about focusing on the systems behind the podcast, here is what your first week might look like:

  • Post a job ad for an audio editor on day 1.
  • Then engage in back and forth communications from there.
  • Finally, have someone hired by the end of the week, ready to go to edit all your audio.

It sounds really cliche, but when you focus on the mountain, all you see is the climb. Instead, just focus on those first few steps ahead and appreciate that initial path that you have directly in front of you.

Over to you! What can you do now for 10 minutes a day to go after the things that you want to accomplish?
