Episode 32 Transcript

Heather:

Welcome to episode 32. Here we go. All right. So there I was, standing on this stage in a really beautiful venue. It was right on the beach in a town called Terrigal. in Central Coast, New South Wales, which is north of Sydney. And Central Coast is sort of a laid back vibe. You know, it's an hour, hour and a half outside of Sydney, really chill. And sitting there in this beautiful venue, literally you guys right on the beach. It was winter. So it was really cold, but the sun was like reflecting off the water. So I was standing on stage and I could see, it's like little diamonds, right? All these beautiful little diamonds just off to my left, right in front of me, the audience. And I'm not sure if it was like the sun in my eyes or... the fact that the light was shining in my eyes, because I was on stage, so we had like, you know, the full lit stage, all the fancy lights from the audio visual team. So whether it was the light from the left, the reflection from the sun, or the lights from in front of me, up in the ceiling shining down on me, not really sure what it was that actually caused it to happen, but somehow, I did not see the end of the stage. I was walking towards the fallback monitor and that is basically the monitor, like the fallback monitor is like where you see your slides. So you're there and I'm like looking at my slides, right? So I'm sort of, I have the light coming at me from the left and the top and... The slides are down, and I'm looking down at the slides and walking towards them because I need to get into the detail. Some of the slides that was up on the screen behind me and I did not stop in time. I just kept going and in front of nearly 200 business owners, eager to learn the latest in Facebook marketing, I fell off the stage onto the floor. and somehow folded myself over the monitor. So you can picture, right? I literally step off the stage and I'm like bent over the top of the monitor that has my slides on the floor in front of 200 people. I still have no idea to this day how I got back up on stage. It was like I was morphed into like this weird bouncy ball where I somehow pushed my hand. So I was like, you know, leaning over the top of the monitor and I somehow pushed my hand on the floor front of the monitor and I did some sort of like bizarre backbend back onto my feet so I'm still I'm facing the audience I'm on the floor facing the audience and then I get somehow get back up onto the stage guys I was wearing heels like stiletto heels on little boots so I managed to somehow be hopped back on the stage I don't know if it was backwards or what it's all very vague at that point but I faced the crowd and then I said in the almost 20 years of speaking, I have always wanted to do that. Now everyone's faces went from being filled with concern to lots of laughter. So why am I telling you this story? Because people don't remember how you fall, they remember how you dealt with it. Alright guys, talk to you next time. Bye.
